Kęty – The Aleksander Kłosiński Museum

The ethnographic exhibition is located in the furthest room of the Aleksander Kłosiński Museum in Kęty. All the exhibits were described in detail and the information is available for the visitors on boards to enrich their knowledge.

The exhibition presents the Lachy costumes together with the chests in which they used to, and the accessories needed for cleaning them. The rest of the exposition is dedicated to the interiors of a village house. There are a lot of everyday and household objects including objects intended for personal hygiene, wooden measuring tools, bread forms, cullenders, wooden butter buckets, cheese press, a coffee roaster and many others. Farming and household equipment is also exhibited and the chaff cutter from the local factory is the most interesting exhibit here as well as a unique wooden plough.

The Aleksander Kłosiński Museum, which dates back to the 1970s and which has been an independent institution of the Rural Commune in Kęty since 2003, operates extensively. It holds permanent exhibitions – historical, town’s life, artistic, ethnographic and temporary ones. The Museum also of fers museum classes and workshops. Not only do the exhibitions attract people but also the discussions held here. Lots of enthusiasts of history and local traditions come here participate in those region-themed discussions. It is a great source of information about the past and the rites of the local community. Apart from the huge international events such as the Long Night of Museums, the Museum organizes such events as: “Meeting by the cannon” or a new one: “History – indeed!” during which a multimedia story is presented referring to one chosen exhibit.
