Międzyrzecze Górne – The Regional Chamber
The Regional Chamber in Międzyrzecze Górne, a village located in Jasienica Rural Commune neighboring with Bielsko-Biała, was established in 2003 on the initiative of the local inhabitants. It has been located in a new building called the Międzyrzecze Hut since 2007. It was designed in imitation of a traditional village household. The relics presented here are strictly connected with the region.
The hut has five rooms. In the hallway, where visiting begins, you can see the regional costume from the Cieszyn Silesia Region among others. When you proceed to the utility room you will find objects used in carpentry, beekeeping, and farming, therefore, you can see flails, winnowers, and planes among others. Everything that is connected with the work of each housewife was exhibited in the kitchen – antique cupboard, pots, irons, old washing machines, chests, and mangles. In the living room, you will find old radio sets, photographs, clocks, china, documents next to instruments out of which a harmonium draws a special attention. The last room is the bedroom where old beds, bedside tables, sewing and leathercraft machines are displayed. On the walls in all rooms, there are religion-themed paintings. The entire interior generates the atmosphere of the traditional village hut.
In the Międzyrzecze Hut, the following institutions and associations operate – the branch of the Jasienica Rural Commune Culture Centre, the branch of the Public Library and the Association of the Friends of Międzyrzecze, which is in charge of the regional exhibition. All kinds of workshops and classes on regionalism and history are organized here and they familiarize children and adults with the traditions and rites from Międzyrzecze.
