Stanisław Wyrtel – the name is already a known brand. The artist, who comes from Zubrzyca Górna, belongs to the most famous glass painters. He has tried other areas of art such as painting, sculpting, and graphics but it was glass painting that he got really interested in. At first, he copied old designs. First works were based on folk traditions from the Orava region. These were mostly religious paintings but with time they were becoming more and more individual thanks to the talent and the courage of the artist who wasn’t afraid of searching his own path. His style became more dynamic, his paintings’ colour scheme more characteristic and the composition was filled with movement.

Stanisław Wyrtel created his own style, easy to recognize and greatly esteemed. He started with tradition, which he still respects but his way leads him quite far from it now. His works are constantly changing. They are still religion-themed, ritual-focused and there are compositions inspired by the Oravian landscape and folklore, as well as abstract paintings – all of them are genuinely interesting.

He has exhibited his works all over the country but his first exhibition was held in Bielsko-Biała in 1990. Then in the Gallery of the former Provincial Culture Centre. He has also exhibited his works abroad (France, Slovakia, Germany, USA, Hungary) many times. They can be found in different museum and private collections in Poland and abroad. Stanisław Wyrtel also teaches glass painting, he teaches all age group but he especially likes teaching children.

The Stanisław Wyrtel Gallery has been located in the Oravian Manor House in Zubrzyca Górna since 2011. The building is full of all kinds of works. When visiting this village you should see the gallery since it is a unique place.
